Description:
This is a video-based interactive installation. The audience is allowed to use a pair of headphones to engage the video, which provides a visceral relationship between the audience body and the virtual performer’s body.
In the silent video, I performed with a hair-vibrating machine, partly braided with my hair. Attaching the machine’s switch with my jaw, my mouth’s movement will push the button and trigger the machine to vibrate. The physical headphones vibrate at the same time as the hair machine vibrates in the video.
Through an amplifier chip, it powers the video's white noise sound and translates the sound into the vibrating motion of the pair of headphones.
The headphones' regular speakers were changed into two transducers that allow the white noise sound played as the motion of vibration.
